Longhorn Dam Multimodal Improvements

Austin Capital Delivery Services has partnered with Austin Parks and Recreation and Austin Transportation and Public Works to develop a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Lady Bird Lake, near Longhorn Dam and a new underpass under South Pleasant Valley Road. The project is being funded by the 2020 Mobility Bond.

The wishbone-shaped bridge will connect the existing Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail at three points: Longhorn Shores, Holly Shores, and the peninsula near Holly Shores.  When complete, the bridge will span just under a half-mile and create a north-to-south connection on the east side of Lady Bird Lake. The center of the bridge will feature a plaza with shade structures, plants, bike racks and seating. The underpass will feature full lighting and a mosaic mural featuring artwork from Houston based artist, Reginald Adams. See the rendering of the bridge, plaza and underpass artwork below.
