Artist David De Lara (slide show)

David de Lara is an Austin, Texas based artist whose unmistakable style and brash approach continues to make people take notice. Born in 1979, David was raised the in the rural countryside of South Texas and received a BFA in Fine Arts from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2003. His work has been exhibited throughout Texas in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Corpus Christi and also nationally in Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.

For most of the past decade he has created portraits and figurative work of women. The women in his paintings and drawings are usually not based on anyone in particular and are used like dolls to symbolize the human condition. The images of the women he photographs are often distorted digitally or by hand to blur the line between the reality and surrealism of life. http://www.lostdreams.org
