Members of Congress Urge Administration to Halt Mass Firing Plans A group of 74 House members, led by Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA), are urging the administration to halt plans to conduct further mass firings of federal employees in a letter sent to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought last week. “Resuming RIFs and reorganizations is premature and risks irreversible harm to federal employees and to our nation. Career civil servants are not expendable pawns, but actual people whose jobs matter,” the lawmakers wrote. While the Supreme Court lifted the district court’s injunction on agency reorganization or RIF plans on procedural grounds, the court said it was not assessing the legality of any particular agency’s layoff plans or how they’ve been implemented so far.
