CHOLULA, MEXICO
Cholula is just 20 minutes outside the city of Puebla and about two hours from Mexico City. Cholula (Spanish: [tʃoˈlula] ⓘ, officially Cholula de Rivadavia; Mezquital Otomi: Mä'ragi),[2] is a city and district located in the metropolitan area of Puebla, Mexico.[3] Cholula is best known for its Great Pyramid, with the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios sanctuary on top, as well as its numerous churches. It’s a small, historic town famous for its massive pyramid (yes, the largest pyramid by volume in the world!) with a beautiful church built right on top.
It’s the kind of climate where you can enjoy walking around town, eating outside, and NOT needing air conditioning. If you hate extreme heat or freezing winters, you’ll love Cholula’s balance. |
