“We have millions of children who are homeless in our own country, who really feel like they’re the invisible children,” Rainwater told POLITICO. “They feel like nobody pays attention to them and, for a small amount of money, we could at least bring enough attention to it so that when you walk down the street, you don’t intentionally not look at these kids. If it’s important to pass all these other things that they’re doing, I can’t see why we can’t help a kid who’s standing on the street, a child sitting on the street because her stepfather was raping her and she had nowhere to go. She didn’t choose to be on the street.”
